'Bungalow' describes a form; 'Craftsman' describes a style. Many West End bungalows show Craftsman detailing; some do not. Either can be a wonderful home.
Practical tradeoffs
- Smaller footprints and fewer bathrooms in original layouts.
- Additions vary widely in quality.
- Crawlspaces and foundations deserve inspection.
What to check for any property
- Parcel, zoning, and any historic designation.
- Flood status for the parcel — not inferred from elevation or a nearby greenway.
- Age and condition of roof, foundation, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
- HOA documents, if any.
- Actual walking routes to transit, if transit matters to you.
