'West End' is a useful umbrella, but Wesley Heights, Seversville, Smallwood, Lincoln Heights, Biddleville, and Enderly Park each have their own story, street patterns, and housing.
- Wesley Heights: early-twentieth-century homes, a local historic district.
- Biddleville: a historic Black neighborhood named for the school that became JCSU.
- Seversville: west toward Stewart Creek, with significant new construction.
- Smallwood: sometimes paired with Biddleville in city usage.
- Lincoln Heights and Enderly Park: distinct neighborhoods with their own identities.
